Terms of Service
Montrus Technologies LLC Last updated: 19 September 2026
These are the terms on which you may use Montrus. They are a contract, so parts of them are firm — but we have tried to keep them readable, and to be honest about what the product does and does not do rather than hiding it in a wall of capitals.
By creating an account or using Montrus, you agree to them.
1. Who this agreement is with
Montrus is operated by Montrus Technologies LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St, STE R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States ("Montrus", "we", "us").
"You" means the person using Montrus. If you are using Montrus because your employer bought it, sections 4 and 15 also apply, and some of these terms are agreed by them on your behalf under a separate agreement.
2. Who may use Montrus
You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to online services on your own.
You must be able to enter into a contract, and you must not be barred from using our services under the laws that apply to you, including US sanctions and export rules.
We ask you to confirm you are 16 or older before you can create an account. That is a declaration, not proof of age — we do not ask for identity documents and we do not store a date of birth. If we find out an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we will close it.
3. Your account
Keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at muhammad-abdou@outlook.com if you think someone else has got into it.
Give us accurate details. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not create an account for someone else without their say-so.
One person, one account. Do not share a login.
4. Personal accounts and workplace accounts
Montrus can know you in two ways, and it matters:
A personal account is yours. You created it and you control it. Your capability passport lives here, and it stays yours whatever happens to your job.
A workplace account is created for you by an organisation that bought Montrus. That record belongs to them. They decide your role, they can see your results, and they can remove your access. If they end their agreement with us, or remove you, your workplace access ends.
You can hold both. They are kept separate on purpose. Nothing moves from your personal account into your employer's view unless you explicitly grant it, and you can revoke that grant.
5. Plans, trials and payment
Free. Montrus has a free tier and we intend to keep it genuinely useful. It currently includes assessments, your capability passport, plans, and a weekly allowance of Mentor time.
Pro costs US$20 per month or US$199 per year. Prices are in US dollars; your bank may convert and may charge a fee for that.
Trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial on either plan. It is available once, to first-time subscribers only. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged.
Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
Cancelling. Cancel any time from Settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then return to the free tier. Your data is not deleted when you cancel.
Refunds. We do not offer refunds for periods already started, except where the law where you live gives you a right to one — in which case you have it, and these terms do not take it away. If something went genuinely wrong, write to muhammad-abdou@outlook.com and we will deal with it fairly.
Prices can change. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before a change affects you, and you can cancel instead.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go to them, never to us.
Organisations buy Montrus under a separate written agreement. Where that agreement conflicts with these terms, it wins for that organisation and its people.
6. Fair use and limits
Montrus calls AI models that cost real money per use, so there are limits. They exist to keep the free tier free and to stop abuse, not to nag you.
Today those limits are: free accounts get 5 new Mentor conversations a week and 5 minutes of live Mentor time a week, both resetting on Monday, plus a daily cap on AI requests. Pro gets a substantially higher daily cap and a generous monthly allowance of live avatar time, above which the Mentor continues by voice.
We may change these limits as costs and usage change. If we reduce something you are paying for, we will tell you first.
Do not try to get around them — no scripting the product, no sharing accounts, no automated scraping. If you need higher limits, ask us.
7. What Montrus is — and what it is not
Please read this section. It is the one most likely to matter to you.
Montrus is a measurement and development tool. It is not professional advice.
- Not career advice from a qualified adviser. The Mentor is software. It can be wrong about your industry, your market, your prospects and your options. Decisions about your career are yours.
- Not medical, psychological or clinical care. The wellbeing mode is a supportive conversation, not therapy, diagnosis or treatment, and the Mentor is not a clinician. If you are in crisis or at risk of harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line now. Montrus is not an emergency service and cannot get help to you.
- Not legal, financial or tax advice.
- Not a hiring decision, and not a guarantee of one. A capability level is a measurement of what you demonstrated in Montrus. It is not a professional certification, not a licence, not a qualification, and not a promise that you can do a job.
What a "verified" capability actually claims. It claims exactly this: you answered scored questions in Montrus, or you demonstrated something a person reviewed, and this is the level that produced. Every level shows how much evidence stands behind it, because a level built on one question is not the same as one built on eight, and we refuse to present them as though they were. It claims nothing beyond that.
AI output can be wrong. We check a great deal of it — a second model reviews assessment questions, narratives and hiring reports, and output that fails the check is regenerated or withheld rather than shown. That materially reduces errors. It does not eliminate them. Do not rely on anything Montrus tells you as fact without checking it, and never rely on it where being wrong would harm you or someone else.
8. How you may use Montrus
Use it for its purpose: measuring, building and demonstrating capability.
Do not:
- break the law with it, or use it to harm, harass, defame or discriminate against anyone;
- upload someone else's personal data without a lawful basis, or a CV that is not yours to share;
- try to make the Mentor produce harmful, hateful, sexual or dangerous content, or attempt to jailbreak, prompt-inject or otherwise subvert its safeguards;
- cheat an assessment — automating answers, sharing question banks, or having someone else sit it for you. We measure timing and answer patterns, and we may withhold or reset results we do not believe are yours;
- misrepresent a Montrus level or passport to an employer or anyone else;
- probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service, or try to reach data that is not yours;
- copy, resell, reverse-engineer or build a competing product out of Montrus;
- use Montrus to train a machine learning model.
9. The community
Some parts of Montrus let you post to other members. Everything posted is checked before it appears, and if the check cannot run, the post is held rather than published.
Keep it professional. No harassment, no hate, no spam, no advertising, no sharing of other people's private information, no contact details or links in posts.
You can report a post. We can remove anything, hold anything, and remove someone's access to the community, at our discretion, to keep it usable.
10. What you write, and what we may do with it
You own what you write. Your assessment answers, conversations, reflections, plans, posts and uploads stay yours.
You give us a limited licence to store, process, display and transmit it for the purpose of running Montrus for you — including sending the relevant text to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy. That licence exists so the product can function. It ends when you delete the content or your account.
We do not use your content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's, and our AI providers do not train on it under the business terms we use.
We may use aggregated, de-identified information — how many people completed something, how a feature performs — to improve Montrus and to describe it publicly. Nothing in that identifies you.
If you send us feedback or an idea, we may use it freely without owing you anything for it.
11. Our intellectual property
Montrus — the software, the interface, the assessment engine, the capability model, the brand and everything we generate to run it — belongs to us or our licensors. These terms give you the right to use the product, not to own any part of it.
"Montrus" and our logo are our marks. Do not use them without written permission.
12. Suspension, removal and closing your account
You can leave at any time. Delete your personal account from Settings. It is irreversible and removes almost everything at once — see our Privacy Policy for exactly what goes and what stays.
We may remove your access where an organisation's agreement ends, where an administrator removes you, or where an account has been dormant for a long time and we have told you first.
We may block an account for serious or repeated breaches of section 8 or 9 — misuse, abuse of another person, cheating at scale, or attacking the service. Blocking is a sanction: it prevents you signing in and prevents you creating a new account with the same email.
We will tell you which of the two has happened, because they mean different things. If you think we have got it wrong, write to muhammad-abdou@outlook.com and a person will look at it.
We may suspend an organisation's workspace for non-payment or breach of its agreement. Its people lose access while it is suspended; their personal accounts are unaffected.
13. Third-party services
Montrus depends on other companies — listed in our Privacy Policy — and may link to services we do not control. We are not responsible for what they do or for their terms. If one of them fails, parts of Montrus may fail with it; we design for that where we can, and the product degrades rather than breaking wherever it is possible to do so.
14. Availability
We work hard to keep Montrus running and we do not currently offer a contractual uptime commitment on individual plans. The product may be unavailable for maintenance, for faults, or because a provider we depend on is down. We may change or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice where a change materially reduces something you pay for.
Organisation agreements may include specific service commitments; where they do, those apply.
Support. You can reach us from Help → Contact support in the product. A person answers, Sunday to Thursday, 09:00–17:00 (GMT+3), and every request shows the date and time by which you can expect a reply. Those dates are targets we measure and publish, not a contractual commitment; an organisation whose agreement includes service commitments has those instead.
15. If your employer gave you Montrus
Your employer is responsible for the workplace data it puts into Montrus and for who inside their organisation may see it. They decide your role, they can see your workplace results, and they can remove your access.
They cannot see your personal account, your personal passport, your wellbeing conversations or your private career exploration. Those are separate by design.
If they ask to see your passport, you get a screen showing exactly what would be shared, you choose which parts, and you can revoke it later.
16. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Montrus is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all warranties not expressly given here, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or complete.
Nothing here excludes any warranty or right that the law where you live does not allow to be excluded — including, in the UK and EEA, your statutory rights as a consumer.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, lost opportunity, lost data, or a job you did or did not get.
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Montrus is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$100.
We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
18. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Montrus — content you uploaded, a law you broke, a right you infringed, or a breach of these terms — you agree to cover our reasonable losses and legal costs arising from it.
19. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
You and we agree that any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and we each consent to their jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EEA, nothing above takes away your right to rely on the mandatory consumer protection law of your country, or to bring a claim in your local courts.
Before going to court, please write to muhammad-abdou@outlook.com. Most things can be sorted out directly, and we would rather do that.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the product or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use Montrus after that means you accept it. If you do not, you can cancel and close your account.
21. The rest
- Whole agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Montrus, unless your organisation has a separate signed agreement.
- If one part fails, the rest still stands.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if Montrus is sold or merged, and we will tell you.
- Nothing here makes us partners, or either of us the other's agent.
